Dr. Rachael Moyer is an experienced educational leader with a deep commitment to International Baccalaureate (IB) programs and innovative teaching practices. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Secondary English Education from West Virginia University, a Master of Education in Gifted Education from UNC Charlotte, and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Appalachian State University.
Dr. Moyer’s career in education spans over two decades, during which she has served in diverse roles, including National Board Certified Teacher (NBCT) in World Literature and Theory of Knowledge, IB Diploma Programme (DP) Coordinator, and district eLeader. Her leadership experience also includes over 15 years of specialized work in gifted education and advanced programs. In 2015, she became the full-time IB Coordinator at South Iredell High School, where she oversaw both the IB Diploma and Career-related Programmes, guiding students and faculty through the demands of rigorous international curricula.
In 2020, Dr. Moyer transitioned into school administration, bringing her expertise in distributed instructional leadership and pedagogical intelligence into her research. Her doctoral work explored leadership within IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) settings, focusing on how instructional leaders navigate complex educational environments. This research reflects her broader interest in fostering instructional excellence and academic rigor through collaborative and distributed leadership models.
Currently, Dr. Moyer is the principal of The Brawley School, an IB World School, where she leads a dynamic learning community focused on the Middle Years Programme. In addition to her role as principal, she continues to contribute to the global IB community as a workshop leader, consultant, and program evaluator.
Dr. Moyer is committed to advancing educational leadership and student success through inquiry-based learning and pedagogical innovation. Beyond her professional endeavors, she enjoys spending time outdoors with her family.
