After 26 at UNC Charlotte, Dr. Lynn Ahlgrim-Delzell retired in December 2018. Lynn is a passionate teacher and scholar. Her research and advocacy for students with developmental disabilities have improved the lives of students across the United States. She will be missed by her colleagues and students.

Dr. Jae Hoon Lim and her colleagues received a $750,000 grant to help attract and support military veterans in earning graduate degrees in STEM disciplines, with particular emphasis on advanced degrees in mechanical engineering. Lynn Ahlgrim-Delzell, Florence Martin, and Chuang Wang and eight graduate students visited schools in China and India from June 9 to 24, 2018 for a study of comparison between American, Chinese, and Indian education. Dr. Lisa Merriweather was invited by SUNY Empire State College to be part of the Revisioning Adult Higher Education Webinar Series — Underrepresented Adults: Power and Identity in American Higher Education. Her presentation was titled “Negotiating Polyrhythms: Moving Toward a Praxis of Inclusive Adult Education.”

At the April conference of the Council for the Study of Community Colleges, Mark D’Amico was named President-Elect of the national organization. Over the next year, he will be responsible for planning the 2019 conference. Beginning in March 2019, Mark will serve a one-year term as President of the Council.
